Since I discovered The Flesh Artist from her at World HorrorCon 1994, Lucy Taylor has been among my favorite horror authors. Her work explores dark intimacies of the human heart in ways few authors of any genre could touch. This strong stuff - not because of gore (though it's there) but because these bleak visions feel so very real.

How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 21, 2019This collection shows the wide range of Taylor's skills. These stories range from fantasy to horror or a mix of the two. Some, like "Making a Woman" and "Spree" are difficult to read. I loved them all.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2018The following is a very small excerpt of my much longer review coming to Ink Heist on Wednesday morning.
I’m not going to dwell long on all the short stories in this book. I’m going to give you an overall impression–which I basically already gave you in the previous paragraphs–and touch on some major high points before moving on to the thing I think truly makes this collection special as a complete production. The fact of the matter is that Lucy’s stories always f*****g rock and the tales in this book are no exception. Every single one of them is a gem in its own right and deserves a place in the spotlight.

5.0 out of 5 stars A no holds bared mix of filth and psychological horror
I really enjoyed this anthology and wasn't in the least put off by it's graphic nature. The best of the stories mix the seedy underbelly that Taylor loves to frequent in her work with almost spiritual themes, merging the sacred and the profane with incredible skill. The characters are broken, angry, enraged and rampaging, seeking revenge or simply the momentary thrill of a hot orgasmic but it's written with a purpose, rather than just being filth for filth's sake. Looking forward to reading more of Taylor's work!
