'Letters to Juliet'

From the beautiful scenery of the Italian locations to the beautiful cast, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie for several reasons: 1) being the 'Hope[less]/ful Romantic' that I am, I actually believe in the premise of this movie; 2) many times, I will go to a movie, in large part, to see the locations. I'm not sure if I will ever get a chance to actually go to Italy but have often dreamed of going so...I always enjoy the opportunity to see movies that feature this beautiful country; 3) I had not seen a movie with Amanda Seyfried, yet, so was curious to see the movie for that reason, as well.

Oh, my! my!my! the "lookers" in this cast! Where to begin! Vanessa Redgrave was so beautiful! I would absolutely LOVE to see MORE (and support!) the gracefully aging community of actresses and actors of yesteryear! Why are they "moth-balled" so early in their career?! It's a travesty!!

My heart nearly stopped when Christopher Egan entered the room!! I wouldn't mind being able to jump into a pool of blue eyes like his! :-P He reminded me of a younger (blonder) Matt Damon. For the record, I think I'd STILL pick Matt (sorry, Christopher! It's the age thing! ;-) but...he was definitely "easy on the eyes" as they say! :-D

I thought I had seen the best of the "pretty boys," when Christopher walked in but...when they came upon Daniel Baldock, I thought I had died and gone to Heaven! lol! ;-P "Where has he been hiding all these year?!" I wondered, and..."why aren't there MORE that look similar to him?!" I thought! Anyway...I'll be keeping my eyes on him, in the future! :-)

So...as if the beautiful rolling hills, that they drove through and filmed, weren't enough, out of the blue rides in one of the most handsome "aged" men that I can ever remember seeing...that being 'Lorenzo' star Franco Nero (oddly, he isn't listed on imDb's casting! Weird!). Wow! Be STILL my heart! lol! They sure don't seem to make 'em like that, anymore, either! :-P

So, then...if you're interested in watching a movie that is just...sweet, go watch it. If you're a 'Hopeless Romantic,' like me, I'm almost certain that you'll LOVE it! If you happen to enjoy beautiful scenery and actors, you won't be disappointed! And...if you have someone whom you are trying to tell how much you love them, take them to this. Unless they have a really "thick skull," they'll "get it;" and, hopefully, not chew your head off for letting them know how much you care about them! :-(

And...there are several very good life "lessons" to be learned from this movie, too. I hope that you'll watch it; I warmly recommend it! :-)

Oh and...there's a heartwarming tidbit about this movie that just made me "swoon," when I discovered it. I'll let anyone who asks me, first, in on it! (wouldn't want to distract from the movie! All I can say is...that the life lessons shared in this movie were actually "played out" in real life! Nothing can be more romantic than that! :-)

TC, I know this is an old post..But, I'm new to your blog. I just put Letters to Juliet in my Netflix queue based on your recomendations and also as a romantic myself (ya, I know guys aren't suppose to be, but??).

Actually, I was the first in our group to read Eat, Prey, Love and eventually took all the "girls", including my wife, to see the movie. It was great.

Like Tommy, I'm another (older) guy in the 'hopelessly romantic' group.
That's not exclusively a gals thing,
after all. And I'm also new to your blog, and found it through your comments on Eolake's.

But I digress - sorry about that. Here's why this little note: there's this wonderful website of clips and photos from the golden age of Hollywood movies, and you'll love it. You can find it here:-

If you like the old Hollywood stars and their work, this is for you - please enjoy it!

Welcome, Tommy! Guess what? There's no "expiration date" on any of my posts so...don't feel like you have to rush through! I'm honored that you have even come to visit and actually enjoy something that I have posted! lol! I really wasn't sure if I wanted to blog or not. Life is quite busy, these days, but, hey...so are most people's! Let's see what it's like to post on a more consistent basis! ;-)

"I just put Letters to Juliet in my Netflix queue based on your recomendations and also as a romantic myself (ya, I know guys aren't suppose to be, but??)."

Awesome, Tommy! Yes...I thought it was quite lovely! I'd love to hear what you think of it. :-)

So...good to know that you have Netflix, Tommy. I still can't make up my mind if I want to justify the monthly fee: I can barely get to movies loaned from the library or friends in a timely manner; and...I understand that they just raised their prices. Is it worth it to you? I would love to hear your thoughts on this.

"Actually, I was the first in our group to read Eat, Prey, Love and eventually took all the "girls", including my wife, to see the movie. It was great."

COOL, Tommy! I went to the movie, first. I have, since, borrowed the book from the library and [you probably saw this coming! lol!] ran out of time, having only gotten through half of the book, so far! I can't STAND the wait to be able to continue, I don't think (and...another fact: I don't usually enjoy re-reading a book but I think that I would like to refer back to this one as it is quite..."meaty" (as in LOTS of GOOD information, People! lol!) which I LIKE! :-) I can wait to check it out, again; I might have to buy it! Usually, I don't make enough time to read, even! But...yes, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie...even though I heard LOTS of complaining over how they didn't follow the story line closely enough! I say: "It's a fricken MOVIE, not a DOCUMENTARY/BIOGRAPHY, people!! Give way to "artistic licensing!""

And...with every new picture, Julia Roberts (I still have to stop and look up her name! "Is it Julie or Julia?!" lol! Ironic I can't remember it: one of my best friends, in my childhood, was named Julia! lol! I'll try to link it to that fact, to help my crazy brain, in the future!), is "growing" on me! I used to think that ALL that..."exuberance" that she displayed *must* be contrived but...it seems to be part of her [genuine] personality and I find it quite...refreshing in this day and age of everything "serious"! :-)

Which brings me to another realization, Tommy: I discovered that [gasp!] I STILL have to do a posting on 'Eat, Love, Pray'! Thanks for the reminder! I think EVERYONE should watch the movie and read the book! Elizabeth Gilbert is a really good writer, I have discovered! And...I'm GLAD to know that there are "romantic" men out there; gives me HOPE for the future! :-D

Alright, Ray; now, you've got me completely STUMPED! From your comments on Eo's blog, I would NOT have - even remotely - "pegged" you to be a 'Hopeless Romantic' but COOL! :-D

"That's not exclusively a gals thing,
after all."

I supposed not but...it's also not a "shout-it-from-the-rooftops" general information "betwixt the gals vs. dudes," Ray! Gotta say! ;-)

"And I'm also new to your blog, and found it through your comments on Eolake's."

And welcome to you, as well, Ray! And...as both you and Tommy have probably read, by now, I had only (obviously) half-heartedly "tinkered" w/the idea of doing a blog what w/the time factor and how crazy/busy life can get! It was only because of the "duped" incident that I made it available because Eo felt that it had some important lessons to be learned from it; hence, why I made my [meager] blog available, now. :-/

"But I digress - sorry about that. Here's why this little note: there's this wonderful website of clips and photos from the golden age of Hollywood movies, and you'll love it. You can find it here:-

Thanks, Ray. In all honesty, I'm not too much of an "old" movie fan (I usually can't even stand to watch a movie from the 80's let alone older! lol!) so much as just the actors of the last 2 generations because they're still here and...as Helen Mirren states, in one of my most recent postings, "Hollywood is Sexist and Ageist." SO TRUE!

So...HOPE that you watch 'Letters to Juliet,' Ray and ENJOY and NEVER GIVE UP HOPE of finding that "Someone Special" if you, TRULY, *are* a 'Hopeless Romantic' 'cuz...I believe that: IF someone *is* a 'Hopeless Romantic,' they are meant to be with someone special in their life! I'll be hoping for that for you! :-D
