Hi,

Just wondering what you guys think is the best online broker in terms of web technology? I use cimb itrade and ecm libra. I feel ecmlibra's historical data is much more useful as it can be exported to excel.

On the other hand, cimb itrade's charts can go back quite a long ways till 2000 while ecm libra only goes back two years.

Maybe there's another broker you guys can recommend that has both historical data export and goes back further than just two years? nod.gif or share what you like about your broker's online trading platform? rclxms.gif

Thanks.

Most online brokers in town are using either N2N or Excel Force

Not much difference when it comes to trading platform, features sama saja
Some local online brokers offer add ons such as charting, 360 research (like RHB), technical calls

Look out for ecmmoney or RHBInvest

ecmmoney looks more fore front and its rates is very attractive

If possible, avoid to use Hong Leong bank, HLE, terrible service and only keen on their commission.
Service quality never improve, customers' portfolio never updated, even got providing wrong info which do not reflect actual unrealised profit.
Write in to complaint and they only know to call you for telling they are upgrading. Waiting for so many months also no news.
Regret to opt for their service. ....

SO far i have no problem using HLE.
Quite happy with their service as normally i place orders 1 day before &
check the status on trading day.
Their execution is very fast in the morning session but afternoon session a bit slow.
I usually get my order matched in the morning and most of the time the first order itself which mean my order is placed right infront
but afternoon session i notice my queue is a bit far behind, sometime only get matched after a few transactions done.
Nevertheless, still happy with it.

Do you guys ever charged for T4 transaction interest? I think other banks dont have this, right? According to what they ask is daily interest based on 9% p.a, but the total charges are more than that!! HLE did not even pick up the lots for you, yet they are cheeky enough to charge you. mad.gif .

Sometimes, i still have difficulty to access to HLE via HLB, keep displaying system error! There is even one incident when their system went haywire, imaging you Q for 1.75, but your request is still not match even the latest price at 1.72. You can imaging how good is their service!!! Typical chinapek's company, always thinking of extorting customer with their lousy service!!!!!!promise to upgrade their system, but never deliver as promised.

if you go open HLE account at their branch, you will need to figure alot of things yourself, their staff is not familiar with their own product, keep pushing you here and there.

I am too regret to have many lots of shares in HLE sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif , thinking to transfer or dispose them and then opt to other bank!!!!! maybank ok?

maybank is worst than HLE.
not to say that order was executed slow, around 5-10 mins delay after pre opening, their system always having maintenance too.
jupiter not bad also, i heard from some ecm libra is pretty good too.
but i still stick to Jupiter as i like their mobile trader, only HLE and Jupiter offers this service in Malaysia, i can trade anywhere, just with my hp.. smile.gif

at least their brokerage is cheap... and maybank share investment centres and backed by malaysia largest bank. it kinda gives you a bit peace of mind, knowing your money is always secure. compare to brokers like ecmlibra.

i admit i heard of them, ONLINE only.

other forumer said that RHB has stable and better platform more tools, but their comm is higher at 0.7% or rm28(not sure the current rate).

thanks to GHz's comm table for comparison, jupiter has the best rate but is their platform stable? no hiccups and such? is it service friendly and easy transaction? open account hassle free?

If need urgently then better you go to their office. Your account will be open on the spot.

If you just doing the online registration, you need to get all the form sign up & go to notary public & send to form to them which I think take much longer.

The Excel Force software used by HLE doesn't have a Good-until-cancel or Good-till-Date feature when placing orders. You have to re-enter the order each day.

It this a restriction placed only by HLE? Or is it exactly the same for all brokers that use Excel Force?

I usually set it at he beginning of the month , for the whole month.

yea, that because they are using activex.

the only thing i don't like about HLeBroking is that the CDS account is a nominee sad.gif

Not sure which is the best, but I would say CIMB (been using it for sometime)
*
does that make any difference if the CDS account is a nominee? I don't see any problem here.. haha, what is your concern?

HLE's cash upfront accs only charge 0.1% for transac with rm12 min commission.

otherwise with margin n share collateral is 0.4% with min rm12.

service wise, i've never been happier with the speed of their order execution. interface is the same as RHB's, helpdesk has been really helpful n nice to listen to wub.gif

only downside: the site only supports IE.

No. You need to maintain a minimum of RM100 in your trust account to remain active.

This applies to their normal cash upfront account. I am not sure whether it is true for margin account.

Replied from my broker :-

The flat RM12 is new product and need to open a new one. Condition is must intraday, use internet order. If overnight, the rate is 0.54% and this higher than ur original 0.42. Always remain RM5000 to ur A/c

I saw some where that stated
" 1. SETTLEMENT OF PURCHASE CONTRACTS
Pursuant to Bursa Malaysia’s settlement rule, clients are required to settle their purchase contracts by 12.30pm on the 3rd market day (T+3) following the date of transaction (T).
Clients Trading On Cash Upfront Basis
Clients’ cash deposit (also known as Trust) will automatically be deducted on T+3 to settle the purchase contracts due.
Clients Trading NOT on Cash Upfront Basis "
Does it means i dont need to pay the trading amount to trade but can wait til T+3?

If yes, does it expose to certain interest?

Few quick question:-
1)If im using Clients Trading On Cash Upfront Basis, will the money only be settled to broker account at 3rd day, which is T+3 but not immediately during the trade date/time?

2) By looking at the attachment, there is "Bcum" stated 406 and "Scum" stated 580.
What does these 2 figure represented? let say the current price is 1.87, the Bcum of 406 represented that there are 406 lots are queing up to buy at the price of 1.85?

let say if i want to buy at current price of 1.87, how do i know whether there is any share available for me to buy?

Thanks in adv.

What platform u're using to show this figure? Seems like mine is far different from this. Im using Jupiter.

im using HLebroking.

its not possible to bypass 4.97.
you'd have to sapu all the 4.97 prices before u can get to 4.95. i.e. the sellers will sell to 4.97.. no more 4.97 buyers, 4.95 buyers.. 4.94 buyers.. etc. and that's how the price falls.

If the price dropped to 4.97 and there is seller sell at this price. may be the seller is not able to cope with the buyer at 4.97 and the price dropped to 4.95.. those remaining buyer wish to buy at 4.97 will enjoy to buy the price at 4.95 1st and then only for those queue at 4.95?

Get what i mean?

lemme try and get what ur trying to say. laugh.gif

the only way for this to happen is there's a wave of sellers, and the 4.97 buy queue gets wiped out to fall to the 4.95 queue.
buyers who still wish to buy at 4.97 will get the price at 4.97, because effectively they will be jumping queue.

so, this is what will happen.
1. 4.97 sellers will panic sell to 4.97 first, no more then sell to 4.95. stock price falls to 4.95.
2. buyers who wish to buy at 4.97, will buy at 4.97 (next best sell queue), price rises to 4.97.

the rationale for this is, when the price drops to 4.95, there will be sellers queueing at 4.97, while those sellers that are impatient will sell at the 4.95 buy queue (slowly sapuing it), so any buyers who want to buy at 4.97, won't be able to get the stock at 4.95, but will get the stock at 4.97, because there are sellers queueing at 4.97.

alternative scenario : if there are no sellers queueing at 4.97, but only at 5.00, a buy queue of 4.97 will be created, pushing the 4.95 queue to second place. sellers will then sell to the 4.97 queue instead of 4.95.

it might sound really hard to understand without pictures, but just try monitoring one of the active stocks tomorrow, say mudajaya. you'll get what i mean. smile.gif

Haha, i think i got you... So eventually those buyer who wish to buy at 4.97 normally will get the priority instead of those who willing to buy at 4.95 eventhough the price is falling to 4.95. Am i right?

If this is the case, I got the same question. Use Tchong as illustration, Now got 10 lots queing to buy at 4.97. Ok, now the price really fall to 4.97 and there are 9 lots sold, left 1 lot not yet sold right? At this point of time, the price drop to 4.95, will the remaining 1 lot order who willing to buy at 4.97 still remain on the board or the order will be cancelled automatically?

haha good, yeah you're right. priority goes to whoever is willing to jump the queue and buyer higher/ sell lower.
the order will still remain as one lot. anyone who puts a sell order at 4.97 will only get a partial order match of 1 lot.

say im a seller, i place sell 10 lots at 4.97 but unluckily when it comes to my turn to buy, buyer only wants to buy 1 lot. so deal will automatically be done for 1 lot. at this point, the 4.97 buy queue will be wiped out, and next buy queue will be 4.95. so i'll be left in the 4.97 sell queue with 9 lots of buy @4.97, while other sellers will probably jump queue and sell at 4.95 to the next available buyer (at 4.95)

orders wont be cancelled. they'll remain but you'll get a partial match if there isn't enough quantity to match your order.

there's another scenario as well..

say i am seller B in the sell queue (i want to sell 50 lots). there's a seller A in front of me in the sell queue.. (because he placed the order earlier than me). he wants to sell 28 lots. in comes a buyer wanting to buy at our sell price. he wants to buy 60 lots. so the system will automatically settle the trades. he will take 28 from seller A in front of me, and 32 from me. so i'll be left with a partial trade done at 32 lots. with 18 lots left in the queue.

get it?

I am also a user of GOOGLE Chrome but when I click on this link : http://www.apexetrade.com/bin/home.asp, I am able to go in.

I think you should do something to your pop up setting like always allow pop up from this webpage.

You can also try calling them at 03-87361118 and look for their customer service,I tried that before too.

Student above 21 years old can open a share trading account.I believe certain broker would ask the student to provide certain documentation like their saving account or maybe their university student card to show their current occupation.

no....they aren't...their 0.05% per contract is only for contract value more than rm50k

ecmmoney is having promotion now of 0.05% per contract

for less than rm50k, jupiter is offering 0.1% per contract, which is similar to hle's 0.1% per contract - valuetrade

Can a fresh graduate who hasn't secured a job open a trading account? I thought I see somewhere that you need to provide your pay slip to open a trading account.

And I notice when I was looking for job in investment banks, the employer will tell you to terminate your trading account with other brokerage/ investment banks. Any idea why?

If no pay slip bank statement is ok.

for your 2nd questions, that's the rule imposed by Bursa (Rule 702.2(1)). It is to avoid conflict of interest. you can only have trading account with the bank/broker you're working with, and everytime you want to trade, you have to report it and get permission from MD.

best is still jupiter. i m strong supporter of jupiter. i started my account 2 years ago. until now, their rates maintain. alot other brokers offer promotion prices and increase the rates without letting us know.

jupiter system is also much more faster than Maybank or OSK. their customer service also very efficient.

You can have more than one CDS and nominee account with different stockbroking house.

Meantime, it is now possible ultilize your EPF A/C to invest into shares like what I had been doing for years.

0.1% for sub Maybank IB so called appointed agents but only for nominees account...not for the main IB...but IMO if u like full control of your money no hassle transfers in or out between savings and trust accounts, better use the same broker than your savings ie Mbank/CIMB...but if u r tight in squeezing your profit, margin, time, better use others that provide cheap fee...just my 2 cents...

Dear all,

I'm from the business development dept of SJ Securities Sdn Bhd. Just wanted to provide a few updates for you guys here.

I have just emailed the moderator from www.i3investor.com to update their summary list of brokers in Malaysia. I think it's a good website for you to have a glance on which brokers, their rates and some of their special services. Here's the link:

List Of Broker Firms In Malaysia

As for SJ Securities, this is the summary of what we offer:

Online Brokerage Rates

0-100k: 0.42%
>100k: 0.35%
Intraday: 0.15%
Minimum: RM12
Cash upfront: negotiable

Trading Limit

2 x cash collateral, 1 x shares collateral

Payment Method

-Online and direct bank-in: Maybank & CIMB

Special Offers/ Feature

-Trading platform is using N2N Connect and now it can be used with all browsers without major issues
-Supports Good Till Date (GTD) order - order valid until a certain date specified by the client.
-Interest free margin account for purchase contracts up to T+10 (SJenie SMarT)
-Mobile trading available via iMSL@SJenie app for Android (Google Play) & Apple (App Store)

Summary:

- I won't say that SJ offers the best brokerage rates in town, but SJ does offer some margin products with attractive features (T+10 contracts, holding contract up to 1 calendar month).
- SJ has realtime stock quotes and tracker. You can sign up for free at www.sjec.com (Just click 'Sign Up' on the top right corner)
- From time to time, SJ does come up some attractive promotions (like recently, SJ offered a 'Give Me 5' promotion, which is a cash-upfront trading with commission as low as 0.042% or min. RM5)

A Little Bit of Myself:

- I just recently joined this company and my job is to develop business for the company (SJ Securities is on a major expansion stage to become a 1+1 broker company)
- I came from two investment banks before I joined here. This is my third broker firm
- I am a dual licenced broker (equities, futures and options)

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me. Will help to answer you if I have the time.

Regards.

Actually, i used SJ Securities (by N2N), OSK188 (Their own), Maybank2u (by Excel Force) and Kenanga (By Excel Force).

To me, the features are 90% the same.
OSK has the most dummy trading platform - simply for buy sell

Kenanga shifted from N2N old platform to Excel Force is now more functions. But the functions are almost the same to Hwang, Affin, Maybank2u.

So, not much difference unless you are are super trader that need complicated tools. Else....mereka lebih korang sama lo.

I just trade with whichever broker that provide:
1. Low rate
2. Fast platform (Non JAVA)
3. On and off has promotion like contest

Recently Kenanga throw some lucky draw on gadgets:
https://www.kentrade.com.my/KenTrade/nav_event_TradeWin.aspx

Maybe have luck while trading, who knows?

No sure any OSK188 users here. The online trading platform had been down since 9 Oct and till now still not being resoved - for more than one week!!

Also, no clue for any possible fix in foreseeable future. No special gesture or act taken to comfort the clients over the inconverniences induced except for one standard notice announcemnet.
Is this the current standards of service industry Take it or leave it.

I intend to switch to another online broker, the only issue is the hassle to switch all various stocks in my current CDS acc to a new CDS acc of a new borker. I really fed up with this kind of standards of services which still can exist in current consumer-focus services industry.

dtna 7, I ever wrote the feedback to them twice, standard answer given.

I don't think that we should deserve this kind of services unless it is a monopoly industry. I am thinking of getting the remisier of a new broker to arrange the transfer of the shares to a new CDS acc. It is really incompetent and not customer focus services that we get.

i just opened a trading account with maybank.

they have cash account (direct cds or nominee) that offers 0.1% or rm8 minimum brokerage. the only downside is, you can only trade according to the amount of cash available in your account. they won't give you 2x or 3x collateral for this.

if you want collateral, open a non margin account with 0.42% brokerage...

There are some benefits with nominee accounts, but I also feel that it is not worth it. Mostly you don't need to fill out forms when there are special corporate actions and go to the post office to send them out since the nominees will do that for you.

But I have also encountered nominee employees who don't know how to read the company announcements and try to collect extra fees from me that there is no need for me to pay the fees according to the fine print of the announcements (example: revenue stamp for AXREIT reinvestment scheme).

Why then some PO want their clients to open Nominee CDS?

The simple answer is for collateral purpose.Shares in Direct CDS account is under your direct control and you can request to transfer out the shares to another CDS account of your name, or to your family members' CDS account with proper documentary evidence, without any hindrance. But if you ever wish to transfer out the shares in the Nominees CDS account, the consent of the PO is required although it's your shares.

Typically, most online broking that offers cheap brokerage requires your share to be kept under Nominee CDS account.

There are four distinct disadvantages of using a Nominee CDS:

you can't use a Nominee CDS to apply for IPO(initial public offers);
if you wished to attend the AGM of the investee company,you must get the PO to appoint you as a proxy;
if you wished to transfer out shares from your Nominee CDS to your relative's CDS ,you must first transfer the share from Nominee CDS to your Direct CDS ,then proceed to transfer the share to your relative's CDS .Whereas for shares in Direct CDS,there is only one step where you transfer direct from your CDS to your relative's CDS;.This apply to transfers that entail change of beneficial ownership.(edited on 27/02/09 to correct an earlier fundamental error.)
POs charge you a service fee for all dividends received and paper works done such as accepting rights issue or other corporate exercise that involve filling up of forms.

I've no complaints with AmeSecurities. They always act fast, within hours of my email to them. Withdrawals are also fast - request withdrawal morning, get the money in my bank ac in the afternoon. The best I like is thier super low brokerage of min RM6.

It's actually RM6 or 0.035% whichever is higher. E.g. if buy RM20,000, fee is 20,000 x 0.00035= RM7.
If buy RM5,000, fee is RM6.

Hi,

May I ask more about this?
Do they charge on dividend?
Based on the PDS, they showed the following nominee fees:

http://www.amesecurities.com.my/gc/doc/eDi...losureSheet.pdf
Source:
1. Outward Transfer of Securities - RM50 per transfer
2. Dividend Collection:
Net Dividend: RM20 - nil Above RM20 - RM500 - RM5 Above RM500 - 1% of net dividend, max RM1,000

The main concern is on the dividend fee.
Does this means that our dividend is subject to transaction cost?
Is this fee unique to AM investment only, or all other banks are charging something similar?

Thank you.

I just recently opened an account with Kay Hian UOB, coz nearest to my office. Front desk staff ok, friendly and helpful.

After opened, tried login but got stuck after asking about downloading a script.
After calling their IT support only realised their platform can only run on IE.

This kinda ratchet my Inner Fire by One notch .. ok la, just have to use my laptop since Company PC doesn't allowed IE to run.

Next thing, Real Time Price is alll blanked. This must be coz the data are blocked. I am behind company firewall, why they can't use the regular web browsing port for their platform ?

Wasted almost a whole morning to do the registration etc and now I have to cancel this account.

Bro in the forum can anybody recommend me an account that can be accessed via any browser and doesn't use fancy ports ?

I'm using Mplus also, so far so good.
Actually this 3 use excel force product, so the result almost the same, just their Customer Service different.

If you planning to trade overseas Market, then Hong Leong will be good.

If brokerage is a major concern, then U should take a look at AmeSecurities which has the lowest in Malaysia at max (RM6, 0.035%), exch the 6% GST. So if U buy/sell say RM17,000 woth of stock, U pay only RM6.36 brokerage. If U buy more say RM30,000, U pay only RM11.13. Brokerage is a major factor if U do a lot of trading and with such low cost, U can still make money even if the stock U buy goes up 1 cent, if your volumn is not too small.

This is very true IF you know what you are doing. Minimal help from the brokers and the cheapest you can find is AmeSec now. BUT if you need guidance and hand holding, then you need to find a broker that can provide this. In this case, you will need to pay more because now service is better and guidance is also better. In this context, not many broker out there can do it. Some claim they can do it BUT after you sign the account, they suddenly become quiet.

Base on my personal experience, I have signup account with a few. The only broker that offer excellent service and at the same time affordable rate is still Hong Leong eBroking.

Have a nob question ... why the brokerage fees is lower when you do it online compared to call in to the broker house.

Do the phone call buy/sell gets priority compared to the online transactions or its first come first served?

If you call in, human resources required to attend to you and hence higher charges. Online is automated and with ecomomies of scale and thus cheaper. If your platform is already on and ready, buying online should be faster compared to call in. Call in sometimes broker might not be free yet. Online you key in yourself.

Hello,
I was transferred here from 'https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=3696882&st=0&p=76181198&#entry76181198'

There are a few brokers which interest me because of their commissions. However, due to convenience, I would prefer HLeBroking. Is there any remisier here who I can contact?

It's true. But I don't actually need a sophisticated platform. Just a platform with price charts is adequate.

Cheaper commissions will save you a lot of money, especially when your positions are large.

Thanks.

Back to your 'old' reply.... before the lockdown... lol

1. Most offer charting software... but not all the same.
Some is really 'useless' la...
and some system is not even reliable and they offer terrible 'service'....
some has teething problems whenever one banks in or withdraws......
so....the cheapest brokerage house might not necessary offer you the best option....

2. When I trade, making money is much more important than saving money.
Cheap trades seduces and teaches one to embark a much riskier trading style - ie one is seduced to trade for scraps.
This is not to say such trading does not work, in fact some really good traders can make a good living on such scraps....
but the majority mati katak one....
cos it induces poor trading decisions...
the trader usually takes the small profits when instead they could have had a nice 'jackpot' of a winning trade....
they sell cos they got the easy option offered by cheap brokerage, hence ruining their big winning trades....
and trading more often does not necessary equates to a better trading strategy....
which is why I said cheap does not guarantee one winning (as in long term)

anyway... poison is always subjective la.... tongue.gif

1. If your 'useless' is implying the platforms non-reliableness, then it is of my concern. If the platform keeps on crashing or not executing my trades, it is definitely a concern. I don't trade intraday, I usually hold my positions for weeks or months. I only look at the Daily chart and above. Therefore, as long as the platform can fulfill these requirements, it should be okay.
I don't mind paying a little more commissions to avoid the depositing and withdrawing problems.
If you have a broker of recommendation, please do let me know.

2. I will give you an example.

Assuming that my account is 200 MYR.
I am buying a 100 shares priced at RM2 (RM2*100 = RM200)
CIMB iTrade commissions = RM200*0.42%(in this case RM28, minimum brokerage fees)+RM20(stamp duty) = RM 48

HLeBroking commissions = RM200*0.1%(in this case RM8)+RM20 = RM 28

[I am not sure if the commissions are a round-trip commission or not]
My stock price has to move RM 0.24 for iTrade, and RM 0.14 for HLeBroking to break even.
In percentage, my stock has to move 12% for iTrade and 7% for HLeBroking.
They are significantly different.

I am using 200 to show how significant the commission is to low capital traders.

Your computation is wrong...stamp duty only RM1 per RM1,000, so since less than RM1000, stamp duty only RM1. U have not factored clearing fee in at 0.03% (have to also incl 6% GST, so it's 0.0318%. Stamp duty no GET but brokerage got.
So it's -
CIMB - 29.68 + 1 + 0.06 = 30.74
HL - 8.48 + 1 + 0.06 = 9.46
AB - 6.36 + 1 + 0.06 = 7.42.

Yes, U also have to pay the usual brokerage + stamp duty + clearing fee when U sell. So your share has to go up to above RM2.60 for CIMB, RM2.20 for HL and RM2.15 for AB B4 U can even think of selling to make a profit.

Anyway, no issue for me using AB as to depositing and withdrawal as I use my AmBank savings ac to deposit and withdraw online. If I want to buy shares today, I'll just have to login to my trading ac and make an on9 transfer from my AB ac to my trading ac B4 8am, and then I can start buying stock on that day itself. I just need to login to my trading ac to make a withdrawal to my AB savings ac B4 about 9am and the funds will be depoisted to my savings ac by about noon. I've been using AmeSecurities for about 2 yrs already and have yet to encounter any major problem. Also their customer service is good; u can call them directly or send an email.

Which is why it is not recommended to trade with such low capital. It's just stupid

Best is , i can also claim back the transfer fees of shares from  my prev brokers , UOB Kayhian, OSK,

Wow, I thought HLebroking was already lowest. I trade with that, but I enjoy the interface of RHB, haha!

I've heard the user experience and the customer service is inadequate. But that is the trade-off you get for the lowest commission broker on the KLSE. wink.gif

best is still jupiter.  i m strong supporter of jupiter.  i started my account 2 years ago.  until now, their rates maintain.  alot other brokers offer promotion prices and increase the rates without letting us know.

jupiter system is also much more faster than Maybank or OSK.  their customer service also very efficient.
*
still vouch for jupiter after 6 years?

edit: just called Jupiter subang branch and a guy talked unprofessionally replied that its 0.1% commission. Btw Amsecurities still 0.05% min RM8.

Lowest is AmBank and M+(Melaka Securities)

Cheap no frills but good trading platform Hong Leong

Nice features like Stop Loss is RHB but the method to bank in to your CDS account is a bit ma fan.

Hi, I am new here planning to start with small capital only, so I am looking for broker with the lowest minimum brokerage fee, after everything like stamp duty is included for each of my trade.

I looked for the list at http://klse.i3investor.com/jsp/hti/brokers.jsp, but according to u, AmBank has revised their fee to RM8 or 0.05%, which makes me think that this list of info might be outdated.

Can you / anyone here please recommend which broker is best for me? I noticed cimbclicks trade is RM8.88, I wonder where that 0.88 comes from and I suppose it might have included something else like stamp duty included? so might it ends out to be the actual lowest after everything is calculated for each transaction?

I am also interested to know other details that I should concern while choosing a better broker. by the way, I am from Kota Kinabalu Sabah, any broker / pro here that can enlighten me please reply to me here / add me @ www.facebook.com/ryogatoran .

thank you so much~

Hi, i have an account with Maybank and PB. Initially it was PB but i made an account for Maybank later because of the lower brokerage fees and i could purchase IPOs. Both my accounts were there for 2 years and i'm just planning to start investing.

For those using Maybank so far, what is your feedback on the their system? Anything a newbie like me should be aware? biggrin.gif

I am using, so far so good. No complaints.

Less research than other full service broker, and DIY account.

The 0.05% rate is applicable only if you trade >30K per trade otherwise it is 0.08%

its significantly cheaper than my previous broker. i dont really play contra, and i dont need any remisier's advice, so i'm quite happy with m+.

the only annoying part is that i need to use internet explorer for their online platform - its the only reason i have ie for. but for the low transaction fees (around 100/50k), its no big deal.

What's there to PM? Just fill up the form here
https://www.mplusonline.com.my/macsecos/Reg...r.asp?regtype=A
Alternatuvely, download the forms and print it then post to them
https://www.mplusonline.com.my/macsecos/openacc.asp

Tools use to screen for stocks based on criteira you set. Dividend yield, PE, EPS, debts to equity, etc
There are also tools for charting where they provide chart so you can analyse when to go in and when to exit (useful for traders)

CDS doesn't provide those tools. They are just "storage". Usually your broker is the one who will provide those tools.

No annual fee. You pay RM10.60 one time only for opening account.

How do I apply to M+ Online?
You need the following to trade online:
(i) Register with M+ Online at https://www.mplusonline.com.my
(ii) Visit our nearest Branches to complete the Trading account and CDS (Central Depository System) account application forms. As per Bursa Malaysia guidelines, you are required to be present before a licensed dealers’ representative or an authorised officer of Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd who will witness your application. Alternatively, you may choose to sign before a Notary Public as a witness.

Depends on what you want. You want analyst report go for kentrade. According to Vanguard 2015 he said their analysis quite good.

You want high interest rate for brokerage, HLeB not bad.

All broker more or less the same if you are the type for trade say RM4-8k/transaction. If you are the type who trade like rm100k, then yes. It starts to make a difference.

As for me, I don't have a Malaysian broker. Don't intend to buy malaysian stocks. tongue.gif Other country broker ada la.

If I were to choose, I will choose m+

High interest on money sitting in your trading account if you are not buying.

Of course can. Pay higher brokerage + let the brokerage eat a part of your dividend if you use local broker to buy foreign stocks. devil.gif

Depends on which market you want. Most foreign broker require you to mail them a completed set of form + verified documents by commisioner of oath/public notary if you really want to open.

Demo trading no need to sign up.

hi fellow forumers,

for cash upfront accounts, are you able to place new transactions on the same day after previous holdings were sold? for instance, sold RM10K on 24th June and place order for RM10K again right away on the same day?

They go on a usage tier basis, which goes down gradually, I use them the most.

FYI, RAKUTENTRADE platform doesn't allow u to have both buying and selling of the same counter, if either one is still pending (which means to say; if u have a sell order for example:- PTGTIN 100,000@0.330; u would not be allow to have another buy order at say, buy PTGTIN 50,000@0.310)
the logic is to prevent manipulation. why KENTRADE which is much larger can allow it?
beware of this restriction!!!

For M+,
Brokerage fee of 0.05% per contract or minimum brokerage at RM8, whichever is higher.

Which means 8/0.0005 = RM16000
Anything <=RM16k, you pay only RM8. Even if you buy RM100 worth of stuff, that's RM8 = 8/100 = 8%
If you buy RM20k, you pay RM10.

The above is for buy/sell transaction. I think you pay once. If day trade, better you ask them.

Thanks

The rate is good compare with others which cost RM28 minimum and a rate of 0.42%

0.05% is like 1/8 of the normal rate

Hi Guys, any sifu here? I'm a noob, please suggest me a good broker;
1. For a start, I'm looking to invest around 5k to 30k
2. Considerably good web page (i'm using mac, no Internet Explorer atm..)
3. Good and helpful mobile apps (must)
4. Global access
5. Can see Sharia or NonSharia compliance (optional)

Aside, I'm currently working in SG. Should I invest in MY stock, or just SG (open SG cds)? I'm planning to migrate soon.. Any suggestions?

To fulfill your requirements, it's better to open up an account in SG.

Sifu's, I am seeking for help.

I am new to investment and I have RM10,000 to invest with.

1. What is a good platform to start with?
2. Where should I do my research?
3. What do I need to invest mid-high risk stocks?

Open to criticism and comments, thank you.

If you are new, I suggest go with a Unit Trust fund first. Investing in the stock market should not be taken lightly.

I'm planning to diversify my portfolio to start on stock investments. Currently have unit trust funds on hand already and want to expand my investments to riskier side.

Hi guys,

I'm currently using Maybank brokerage account and I'm not satisfied with their platform, the plateform can only buy and sell and not much I can do on the platform.

I'm planning to open a brokerage account in Singapore. Few questions to ask:

1) Can a Malaysian open brokerage account in Singapore and trading via Singapore? (I think can but need confirmation)

2) If can open trading account from Singapore, what is the recommended platform to go to?
What I'm looking for is acceptable brokerage fees, access to technical analysis, able to perform day trading.

3) Do I need to go to Singapore personally to open an account?

Many thanks.

1) Yes.
2) Cheapest brokerage (buying)
INteractive broker
DBS Vickers (S$5)
Maybank KE prefunded (S$10)
FSMONE (S$10)

Cheapest brokerage for selling
Interactive broker
Maybank KE prefunded (S$10)
FSMONE (S$10)
DBS Vickers (S$25)

Only downside with interactive broker is there is min monthly fee of USD10 if your commision didn't come up to USD

3. For Maybank KE, no need. Can mail them with all the photocopied documents verified by commisoner of oath. For FSMONE, just open account online. Not sure how's the process for Interactive broker.

Thanks for the info.

You mentioned cheapest brokerage and the commissions are quite low. Does the commission, for example "DBS Vickers (S$5)", includes everything like gst, stamp duty etc?
If yes, then it could be cheaper than some of our Malaysian brokerage.
So, is it possible that Singaporean brokerage could be cheaper than our Malaysian brokerage?

No. That's just brokerage commission. Stamp duty everything all extra like S$1+.

It's cheaper for SG stocks but not for Malaysian sticks. Same like here. Local Malaysian brokers offer cheaper price for local stocks and more expensive for foreign stocks.

Are all those platforms you mentioned provide stop-loss features? As this is very important to me.

As far as I know, Malaysian platforms are all like 2000 years away in the past, I can't look at the stocks all the time.

Thanks, looking forward for more answers.

Thanks again for being helpful. I have one last question, hope you don't mind.

From your experience, which market has better profit potential and more liquid (Malaysian or Singaporean)?
I have experience only with Malaysian stock market and I find it very illiquid and the movement is quite slow.

Lots of people don't like the SG market as
1) it's very slow moving
2) not much choices

People prefer HK and US market as it's more liquid.

USD 10k to open account. Which you can use the USD10k for trading and not stuck in there earning peanuts.

For me, I can't go the route of interactive broker as I don't trade. The monthly inactivation fee will kill me.

Hi Horizon,

I used to have M+ account and i got bored of their inconsistent fees. HAd to battle on the phone quite often.

I moved to RakutenTrade six months ago and I am very happy with them. Consistent pricing, always on the phone to support you, and a good deal of RT points that I exchange for AirAsia BIG points.

Didn't know that their fees is inconsistent.

Use back same CDS account. Open different broker account. Just give your Mplus or HLE your CDS account no.

Use back same CDS account. Open different broker account. Just give your Mplus or HLE your CDS account no.
Avoid. Use FSM or eUT malaysia. More choices. Cheaper too.

Ramjade, what's the benefit of doing so ya?
ok ok maybe will check with Mplus or HLE agents how to do it..

Thanks! biggrin.gif

Go to mplus or hleb and tell them you want to open account with them. Give them CDS account no. so no need to open new CDS account.

Your shares kept in same account. You can use different broker but you still have access to your shares. No need to login different broker to view different holdings.

Ramjade, so when I sell that time, I can use new broker instead of the existing broker which I placed order?

Just topped up my HLeBroking and RakutenTrade account recently, both using Maybank Premier 1 account.

I noticed there's charge by Maybank of RM0.50 when topping up HLeBroking, but no charges on RakutenTrade topup.

Anyone have any idea? hmm.gif

They go on a usage tier basis, which goes down gradually, I use them the most.
*
What means by usage tier basis? Currently using CIMB nominee account, charging 0.4% or min rm12.

Each CDS account is tied to an individual broker. It cannot be shared among different brokers. So, in order to trade with a different broker / platform, need to create a new CDS account with them. Then, can transfer the shares to the new broker for RM10 per counter.

Hi, Im using maybank broker, but im a beginner though just started. Yes maybank still only can use internet explorer and not like Hong Leong, HLE has HLechart which i think it is better for you if you are doing charting. The brokerage fees is about the same. I pick maybank due to my own convenience and low brokerage fees.

However, I'm facing an issue where I cant export stock list in the home page of the broker...it saved in my desktop but cant find the csv file as it doesnt appear...weird..

Have u sign all the form? You can start trading once u get ur MPLUS account activated. Ur MPLUS account is ur CDS account.
