Strange fact: Dean Parsons is a real life ancient skate vampire that has been skating for thousands of years.

“He is over 8000 years old and never sleeps. Unlike traditional vampires Dean has moved away from the old blood sucking game, swapping ’em out with cigarettes and hash browns. Be warned, he will swoop and fang at any kind of spot you throw at him.” – Adam Tabone

So you’ve been riding for Elan coming up on a year now, and they recently turned you pro, how was that?

Just about a year now, yeah! I was super hyped, never thought I’d ever get a ‘pro’ board.

How’d you find out?

I got surprised 2nd day into our Arrow Wheels trip in China, but even before China I sort of knew something iffy was going on, haha.

Has anything changed since your board came out?

Yeah, doing big interviews for LWA and that. Haha nah not at all, skating, skating – shit’s always gonna be the same.

If that wasn’t enough for one year you also just launched ‘Arrow’ your wheel Brand. How’s it been so far and who else is involved?

It’s goin real good so far!! Arrow’s been up and running only a couple of months now. We did our first trip end of last year. I’m super stoked with our solid team, and everyone supporting us. Also it’s so good working alongside good dudes like Andy Walker and Adam Tabone.

What’s it like starting a brand in Australia in this day and age?

Haha it’s abit tough, but I’m loving the challenge, and always wanted to be involved with the Australian skate scene.

How long ago was it now that you broke your ankle?

It’s probably looking like 18 weeks at the moment. Two cortisones later, I’m slowly getting back on board again.

Any tips on passing the weeks without skateboarding?

Yeah, filming and just getting out on sessions helps. Plus all the Arrow stuff keeps me busy too!

You’ve started getting more into the filming lately, was it the injury that inspired that?

Yeah, sort of. Not being able to skate definitely would of inspired that abit, but I’ve always enjoyed filming the boys, so yes and no haha.

So you’ve already taken Arrow to China, how was that on the recently broken ankle?

Yeah the first Arrow trip was dope, China’s such a rad place. It was gnarly my ankle wasn’t really good to go. Last minute cortisone helped get me back on my board!

What’s your thoughts on hash browns all day at select Maccas restaurants?

Hahaha It’s life changing! I knew it was gonna have to happen one day!

How long have you been couch surfing for now? How’d it come about and what’s it like?

Shit, it’s going on maybe 20 months now! It didn’t really come about, its more about skating and traveling and doing whatever rather then working all the time! I’m happy working bits and pieces to get me through while I can pay my way whenever I’m staying! Big ups to everyone letting me float around Sydney!
