Jaguar restoration

Jaguar PortfolioJaguar restoration shops and Jaguar car collectors from Hollywood to Wall Street and abroad seek my expert skills to reupholster, re-trim, and repair their original Jaguar interior upholstery.

My area of expertise is Jaguar restoration projects from the Post-War era in the 1940s, as well as the 1950s, 1960s, and early 1970s.

Harrison Ford with Rafael AraymanWhether it's a Jaguar fixed head coupe (FHC), drop head coupe (DHC), open two seater (OTS) roadster or saloon sedan, my auto upholstery services include the Jaguar XK120, XK140, XK150, XKE (E-Type) and beloved Mark series.

All of these vintage sports and executive luxury Jags have become highly prized by Jaguar collectors, like Hollywood movie star Harrison Ford, for their sheer elegance and exquisite beauty. Fully restored Jaguar classics easily command prices exceeding $100,000 at auctions and upcoming CA Concours d'Elegance shows.

I'm often hired by classic Jaguar restoration shops Steve's Jaguar Service, Jon Pollock Restorations and Winning Makes to reupholster Jaguar seats, dashboards (dash fascias), steering wheels, consoles, convertible tops, headliners, carpets, door panels, and trunks to the original design and color specifications, using the finest leathers and fabrics in the world.

Below is my portfolio of sample interior Jaguar restorations. No job is too difficult for me to create another Concours d'Elegance Jaguar show car winner.

1950 Jaguar restoration XK120 DHC

June 2012: This elegant silver 1950 XK120 DHC took a while to complete because it was extremely hard to find original Jaguar parts. Nonetheless, I completed the job and the client was very happy. I reupholstered many of the original leather-trim parts (e.g. dashboard and door-caps), and per the client's request, reupholstered the seats with a two-tone color arrangement (navy blue and gray). In addition, I reupholstered the roadster's lightweight canvas top, trunk, and carpeting.

1952 Jaguar restoration XK120 FHC

UPDATE: On May 6, 2012, this classic Jaguar won "Best Of Show" award at Greystone Mansion's Concours de'Elegance in Beverly Hills, CA.

April, 2012: This 1952 Jaguar XK120 FHC was a full restoration.

As you see from the pictures, the entire interior (original trim, red leather seats, panels, carpeting, etc) needed to be removed before repainting a light green color.

When it arrived at my auto upholstery shop, I installed the new headliner and carpeting, all of its fully restored interior panels (kicker panels, door panels, rear panels, light panels (rear back) + window lining, trunk panel), new green leather seats and center console.

I think the XK120 FHC (fixed head coupe) is more luxurious than the XK120 OTS (open two seater) with its full wood dashboard and roll-up windows.

March 2013: With help from Steve's Jaguar in Los Angeles, I restored a silver 1952 Jaguar XK120 FHC.

Like the drophead coupe (DHC), the fixed head coupe (FHC) had wood-veneered dashboards which look beautiful and add a touch of elegance to this 60 year old classic Jaguar.

I reupholstered pieces of the cabin's interior, including the trunk, in the traditional bisquit color. The owner opted to go with wire wheels.

May 2013: Working with Jon Pollock Restorations in Los Angeles, I fully restored a 1953 Jaguar XK120 DHC.

Originally this Jag had a white exterior. Now it sports a silver metallic color. The original interior was black. Now it's been reupholstered with Italian red leather seats and red Wilton wool.

On June 16, 2013 this XK120 will be entered into the Annual Rodeo Drive Concours d'Elegance in Beverly Hills. Last year we entered a 1952 XK120 Coupe in Greystone Mansion's 3rd annual Concourse de'Elegance in Beverly Hills. It won Best of Show.

June, 2015:I just finished reupholstering the complete interior for this black 1954 Jaguar XK140 FHC.

All the trim, seats and carpets, and trunk were reupholstered from black to the original bisquit tan color.

1954 was the first year Jaguar starting producing the XK140.

1955 Jaguar restoration XK140 DHC

December 2011: I reupholstered the complete interior of a classic 1955 Jaguar XK140 DHC while Steve's Jaguar Service in Los Angeles restored the exterior, engine, electrical, suspension, etc.

My client - Hollywood movie star Harrison Ford - chose Jaguar's factory auto upholstery colors: British racing green exterior and bisquit interior.

As you can see from my before-and-after gallery pictures, she turned out to be as beautiful as my 1956 Jaguar XK140 interior restoration.

When Harrison picked up his Jag, he was extremely satisfied with the final results and that made me very happy too!

1957 Jaguar restoration XK140 DHC

May 2011: I finished restoring the interior of this gorgeous red 1957 Jaguar XK140 DHC.

It has the rare 'MC' or 'Special Equipment' option that includes a C-Type cylinder head, a crankshaft damper and a dual exhaust system. These performance options raised the engine's output to 210 horsepower. The MC package also added wire wheels, fog lamps, windshield washers and upscale trunk fittings. The interior has a very elegant walnut-veneered dash and door cappings.

I restored the permanently mounted padded soft top that when lowered sits above and outside the body of the car.

I used the "bisquit" color for the auto upholstery colors.

1961 Jaguar restoration Mark 2

February 2013: I just completed the interior restoration of this white 1961 Jaguar Mark 2.

Although not as rare as other Jaguar from the same period, it's still a pleasure working on this beautiful 4-door medium-sized saloon car. Between 1959 and 1967, approximately 83,000 Mark 2 Jaguars were manufacturerd. This particular unit sports the 3.4 Liter engine that makes it very fast.

I reupholstered the Jaguar's original vinyl door panels, dash with wood trim, steering wheel, carpets, visors, headliner, front seats, and back seat.

The individual picnic tables that fold down from the back of the front seats came out real nice.

1962 Jaguar restoration XKE

March 2014: This 1962 Jaguar XKE was a full restoration.

The owner wanted me to fully restore his Jag to an original '62 silver blue exterior with navy blue interior. But instead of the original black convertible top, he asked me to reupholster it in navy blue.

His excellent decisions produced a contender to win a Concours d'Elegance show prize.

This '62 XKE was among the earliest models exported to the US. It sports a 3.8 liter, 6-cylinder engine. Jaguar collectors will recall this version had glass-covered headlights, small "mouth" opening at the front, signal lights and tail-lights above bumpers, and exhaust tips under the number plate in the rear.

1971 Jaguar restoration XKE 4.2

July 2011: This 1971 Jaguar XKE 4.2 litre was a full restoration.

Only a limited number of 4.2 litre six-cylinder Series 3 E-Types were built. It's believed these are the rarest of all E-Types. In March 2008, the Jaguar E-Type ranked first in Daily Telegraph's list of the 100 most beautiful cars of all time.

To complete this restoration project, I had to remove all the original red interior parts, such as the original leather seats, carpets and door panels, and strip away the white paint to the bare metal. I had to cut out all rust damaged metal and tack welded patches before I applied the first coat of metal primer. To ensure a rust free restoration, I always coat the back of each panel and patch with a rust resistant coating.

The new Jaguar seats were reupholstered in the "bisquit" leather color. It was repainted with the original British racing green color.
