Tomas Berdych got a little carried away on Twitter after winning the Davis Cup on Sunday. What else is new?

Tomas Berdych is the consensus pick for tennis tweeter of the year by many, so hopefully that will get the strapping Czech a bit of lenience from Novak Djokovic's ardent supporters after Berdych gloated a bit unecessarily on Twitter on Sunday.

After Berdych fell in straight sets to World No. 2 Novak Djokovic, he retreated to the locker room to send out this tweet.


Very innocent, and very funny too. Just the type of adorable, off-center stuff that we've come to expect from Berdych since he joined the social media movement.

When the Czechs finished off the Serbs 3-2 to claim back-to-back Davis Cup titles, Berdych pumped out a few celebratory tweets, which were very welcome, very cool and captured the moment.



But Berdych, like any world-class tweeter, decided to push the envelope a bit and give Djokovic a bit of ribbing about the loss:


The tweet, which was deleted by Berdych rather quickly, was certainly questionable, given that Djokovic and Team Serbia were probably in no mood (even though Djokovic had crushed Berdman earlier in the day).

But Berdych, perhaps sensing controversy brewing already, tweeted the following to clear the air and put an end to the matter:

In other words, it was just another day on Twitter. We say Berdych gets a free pass, and only one man—Novak Djokovic himself—can say otherwise.
