Help For Harry

Rachel Hoyt has been a friend of mine for over ten years, and recently I have not seen such a light in her eyes as I have since she adopted little Harriet in September of 2019. Already a mom to Pokey the turtle, Rachel named Harriet as such to be the companion "Hare" to her tortoise, which was also somewhat kismet since "Harry" has a tortoise-shell coat that is as soft as rabbit's fur.

Yesterday, on Saturday, January 18, Rachel noticed Harry wasn't her usual chipper self. Upon examination at the vet, it was concluded that Harry had a stomach blockage of some sort. Without hesitation, Rachel agreed to surgery to remove the blockage. Harry went into surgery just after midnight on January 19 and the blockage was successfully removed. She was resting comfortably by 1:30am, but Rachel had a rough night (yet persevered to lead a memorial scooter ride for a former employer not 9 hours later).

Rachel is one of the hardest working people I know, and a testament to the term "hustler", in the sense that she works her tail off at 3+ jobs to make it work living in Santa Barbara. While there was no question about whether Harry would receive the care she needed, I know that emergency vet care is very expensive, and Harry's bill was no different. I hope to raise the funds to cover what Rachel paid, an amount that seems incredible but not unrealistic for the care Harry received.

Rachel has a lot of friends in real life and on the interwebs, and I wanted to give her a hand up to help cover the expense of saving her baby. Rachel has a tough time asking for help, so I'm doing it for her. Won't you please consider donating to help cover Harry's vet bill?
