Thanks for your interest in applying to join the Board of Directors of the Interaction Design Association. The IxDA Board of Directors are a nine-person executive committee comprising IxDA members who are serving as leaders of IxDA Global. IxDA Global is one component of the overall IxDA Network, which also includes IxDA Local as well as other manifestations of our organization such as the Interaction conference. The IxDA Board of Directors has defined IxDA's mission as follows:  

     We believe that the human condition is increasingly challenged by poor experiences.
     IxDA intends to improve the human condition by advancing the discipline of Interaction Design.
     To do this, we foster a community of people that choose to come together
     to support this intention.
     IxDA relies on individual initiative, contribution, sharing and self-organization as the primary
     means for us to achieve our goals.

IxDA Directors set strategic goals and priorities for organizational initiatives and help allocate resources appropriately. Note that IxDA is entirely volunteer-driven and has no paying members. IxDA Directors are expected to contribute a minimum of 3 hours and can spend up to 10+ hours a week working on IxDA activities. A variety of initiatives are ongoing at any time, and Board members are actively involved either leading or contributing to these efforts.

The four executive positions of President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary have defined responsibilities according to IxDA's official incorporation as a non-profit entity. These roles are currently occupied by Janna Hicks DeVylder, Elizabeth Bacon, Bill DeRouchey (who is also co-chair of Interaction'10), and Jeremy Yuille, respectively. The other IxDA Directors are Nasir Barday, Amyris Fernandez, Jon Kolko and Kevin Silver.
