Free beer for life: the £20,000 crowdfunding incentive

Beer subscription service Beer52.com is offering investors free beer for life for £20,000

Investors who put £20,000 or more into a new online beer subscription service will receive free beer for life, the company has announced.

Beer52, which offers users a crate of beer a month, is aiming to raise £100,000 via investment platform Angels Den. Those who invest more than £20,000 are being offered their own beer brewed for them or a bespoke party anywhere in the world.

The website sources independent craft beers and creates a monthly case of eight beers, delivered for £24. Working with breweries such as Innis and Gunn, Dark Star, Wild Beer Co, Brewers and Union, Camden Town Brewery and Anarchy Brew Co, the site is modeled on existing wine subscription clubs, which are collectively worth £600m.

Over 7m Britons regular drinking beer from small, ‘craft’ breweries, and the wider UK beer industry worth over £18bn, but the site is the first craft subscription service.

An initial £27,000 of seed funding established the business, which now claims that in just eight weeks 10,000 people have signed up, including 6,500 customers and 2,500 subscribers.

The £100,000 funding round will allow the site to acquire 10,000 new members, the founders hope, as well as expand into spirits.
