This effort should be supported because Tejano artist and their fans have contributed to the HLSR for the past 25 years or more. This has resulted in record breaking attendances generating millions of dollars to scholarship funds. It's also been a part of the rodeo tradition that has rapidly been pushed outside of the major arena and into a smaller tent outside. WE ARE TIRED OF HIDING OUT!! Tejanos vaqueros (ranchers) and the traditional Cowboys have co-existed together since the 1800's. The HLSR board claims that it's mission is to serve all ethnic groups that make up the Houston area but when it comes to Tejanos they seem to ignore them, although we make up a large portion of Houston's area population. This change can make an positive impact on any child to defend the values, culture, and education.
