Making a fleece robe from a fleece blanket can be an interesting project to try. Even if you don't have a fleece blanket to use to make a robe, you could just as easily purchase a piece of fleece and use it. This project is very easy to complete with only a few cuts and two simple seams. Learn how to make robes from fleece blankets, and then make matching warm robes for the entire family.

Things You'll Need

  • Scissors

  • 2 Yards Of 1.5-Inch-Wide Grosgrain Ribbon

  • Sewing Machine

  • Fleece Blanket (Size Of Blanket Will Determine Size Of Robe)

Step 1

Choose a fleece blanket that will create a robe to fit the intended wearer. You will need a blanket that is at least 60 inches wide for a medium-size robe. A larger blanket will be necessary to make a larger robe.

Lay the fleece blanket out on a flat work surface, and make cuts as shown in the diagram.

Fold on the dotted lines as shown in the diagram.

Sew the arm seams along the cut edges toward the middle of the robe using a 1/2-inch seam allowance. By folding on each side of the neck hole, you are creating the arms of the robe. Stop stitching when you reach the point where your cutting line ends.

Use a ribbon to tie the robe around yourself.
